NEW YORK, N.Y., April 18, 2024 — SolMicroGrid, a leading microgrid company, announced the opening of its New York City office. The new office allows the company to better pursue its talent acquisition and business development goals.
Key strategic hires include Kirk Edelman, who joined as Chief Executive Officer following recent senior executive roles at Safari Energy, a solar developer focused on Commercial & Industrial markets, and Verdagy, a green hydrogen company. He commented on the move, “SolMicroGrid is poised to expand significantly into both existing and new markets. We continue to acquire the talent and expertise needed to support our long-term goals. Our New York City office is strategically located to allow us to work more effectively with our business partners and stakeholders to execute on opportunities in our pipeline.”
The company plans to further expand its business in the quick service restaurant and travel center sectors as well as in new industries that have been targeted.
In April, SolMicroGrid completed its second microgrid project with Chick-fil-A, Inc. at a Chick-fil-A® restaurant in Santa Rosa, California. The project provides numerous benefits to the restaurant, including full energy resiliency and on-site generation of renewable energy. SolMicroGrid’s innovative system effectively addresses the issues posed by planned and unplanned power outages and also reflects Chick-fil-A’s commitment to caring for the planet.
Through a combination of solar, natural gas generators, and on-site battery energy storage, microgrids provide the reliability of continuous power during utility outages while also generating green energy, reducing the need for utility-supplied power and delivering meaningful cost savings. Moreover, SolMicroGrid’s Energy-as-a-Service business model eliminates the need for customers to invest their own capital.
